Well there has finally been another D2C modchip come onto the market. The D2C is by no means a simple model to have worked with and it is no surprise that it had to come from one of the big teams. The second team to hit the field are Infectus with their new Argon D2C chip for wii. Infectus Argon is basically a striped down version of the Infectus chip designed to only work in the Wii D2C consoles.
The Argon as stated above is just 13-wires, that’s less then half of what is needed to install a D2CKey, this will be great news for those installers that were really struggling with the high wire count and fine soldering needed for d2ckey installs. With that being said the Infectus Argon is more expensive, but for those having trouble with those high wire counts, the extra cost wont be an issue. Another interesting bonus with the Infectus Argon mod chip is the fact they have decided to make it flash upgradeable, now this could be a very handy feature if a game comes out in the future that either of the chips wont work on in their current state, this would mean the infectus guys would be able to work on a firmware update for the Argon that could get around the problem. Knowing how incredibly intelligent the infectus guys really are, I don’t think they would not live up to this challenge.
